All over the streets of New York, 50 Sing for Hope pianos served as hotspots of happiness as people gathered to play, listen, entertain, enjoy and make new friends. Here are a few of the highlights from 2 weeks on the streets: Happy Birthday to the Stars and Stripes. On Tuesday, June 14, the USO Show Troupe lifted their voices to celebrate Flag Day and the Army’s birthday on the SFH Piano in Central Park created by NY Jets Eric Decker and his wife, country singer Jessie James Decker, together with SFH Volunteer Artist Jessica Brown-White. THIS PIANO honors servicemen and women and their canine companions, and has won over fans of all species in its summertime spot on Central Park’s Literary Walk. “Can you hear my heart saying hi?” On Friday, June 10, acclaimed composer Jeanine Tesori and the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical “Fun Home” performed selections from the hit Broadway show in Herald Square on THE PIANO painted by the kids in the cast. The bright yellow piano speaks to the show’s values of advocacy and inclusion with images and quotes from the show.
