"My journey with Sing for Hope has been truly transformative,” shares Naderson Saint Pierre, a self-taught portrait artist whose vibrant works celebrate Black identity. Saint Pierre’s art, driven by a passion to elevate and honor Black narratives, blends personal stories with artistic attributes, creating a powerful visual language.
What began as a personal passion in 2016 has blossomed into an international career for Saint Pierre. His dedication to meticulous technique and keen attention to detail propelled him from painting in New York City’s subway stations and parks to prestigious exhibitions and residencies. Overcoming initial challenges, including homelessness, his talent and tenacity led to opportunities at the Oculus World Trade Center and residencies in the South of France, Paris, Amsterdam, and South Korea.
“While a resident at the Oculus, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Sing for Hope by Barbara Anderson, Founder of Art On The Ave,” Saint Pierre recounts. “My first encounter with their work was Lance Johnson’s exceptionally beautiful and enjoyable Sing for Hope Piano. This initial connection quickly led to a career-defining moment: being chosen to design a Sing for Hope Piano in Paris for the Olympics just a few months later. I am deeply grateful for my ongoing relationship with Sing for Hope.”
We’re honored to partner with artists like Naderson Saint Pierre, whose talent and vision enrich our programs and bring the power of art to communities around the world.
