Artist Statement: Color is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and even influence physiological reactions. Certain colors have been associated with physiological changes, including increased blood pressure, increased metabolism, and eyestrain. This design is about of how colors affect the mind and body. It also explores research on the effect of color and the psychological reactions people may experience.
Cuban-born Bronxite Alexis Mendoza is an interdisciplinary artist, independent curator, and author. Mr. Mendoza has exhibited his artwork in museums and galleries around the world in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. Alexis is the co-founder and co-creator of the Bronx Latin American Art Biennial, and founding member of BxArts Factory. Alexis Mendoza is also the author of several books, such as Latin America, The Culture and the New Men; Objective Reference of Painting: The work of Ismael Checo, 1986-2006; and Reflections: The Sensationalism of the Art from Cuba. Alexis Mendoza lives and works in the Bronx.
