Artist Statement: My concept for the SFH Piano 2019, plays with the meanings of reflection. Reflection of light, reflection of an image and reflection as a form of contemplation.

Carlos Wilfredo Encarnación

Carlos Wilfredo Encarnación is a visual and teaching artist born and raised in Puerto Rico. He received his BA from CUNY Lehman Herbert College and his MFA from CUNY-The City College of New York, where he was awarded with the Bernard Levinson Award and the Connor Fellowship, respectively. His works range from drawings and paintings to sculptures and mixed-media that explore topics such as nostalgia, identity and cultural heritage. He currently lives and works in New York City. or cymaglyph that reflects the visualization of piano notes. We can imagine sound waves vibrating and bouncing off of buildings and crisscrossing the 5 boroughs – creating invisible musical patterns in the sky.
