Artist Statement: Martin Luther King Jr. was an amazing man and an inspiration for all because of his efforts in the civil rights movement He fought far equality and justice, his dedication is a reminder for standing up for what’s right. I would like to create imagery and add his words to a piano so that anyone who sees it will be reminded of this American icon.
My 2D class at Menchville High School in Newport News got creative choice for this assignment. I asked them to think of what they think is important, what makes the area we live in special, or what they think is beautiful or combine their ideas! Teachers and an Administrator looked over all of the student artwork and chose one of our junior’s, Amy Queen, design. Amy is taking multiple art classes this school year and works on her own artwork outside of school.
