Artist Statement: “Galaxies, planets, rockets, satellites and stars are an inspiration for me. I believe science, music and art are one. The space is not black, has so many colors and textures to explore. Like Neil deGrasse Tyson “I think of space not as the final frontier but as the next frontier. Not as something to be conquered but to be explored.””

Laura Alvarez
Laura is an experienced illustrator, graphic designer, visual artist and community activist, who has exhibited in collective and solo shows throughout the United States and Europe. Laura currently works for NYC Parks & Recreation, where she is a teaching artist, develops community outreach programs, and organizes cultural events. Laura is the Co-Founder and Vice-President of the non profit BxArts Factory, an organization committed to increase the number of artists using Art to create social change in the Bronx. She is an enthusiastic volunteer and also served for many years as head of communications for a British private school in Spain. Laura studied fine arts in Spain and the U.K.
