Artist Statement: With the use of flowers and air, my partner and I wanted to visualize the beauty of maternal figures. The depths that they go to protect their children don’t go unseen. As the mother falls from the air, she can be seen guarding her belly, a symbol of a mother's unrelenting protection and affection for their little ones. We hope that this piece can inspire viewers to think of times when they were in danger but a mother, maternal figure, or even just a pure-hearted woman was there to put everything aside and come to their rescue.
I'm Michaurey Williams, a senior at Benjamin Franklin High School. I specialize in public speaking, concert photography, and business management. While I am not a “pro” at visual art, I am fully dedicated to learning and perfecting this beautiful art form.
