Artist Statement: What I hope for this piece is to serve as a reflection on the transformative potential of compassion and empathy. A visual representation of peace and the possibility for restoration and renewal.
Christina Vandian is an Armenian-American Mixed Media Artist based in New York City. She briefly attended the Parsons School of Design for Fine Arts until she dropped out to change her career path. In 2020 she received her Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and currently works with children and adults with developmental disabilities. Her fascination with human behavior, thought and emotion is what leads her to create work. She finds her muse in nature and with a strong penchant for exploration, enjoys using organic substances such as sand, glass, rocks, wood, crystals and flowers in her pieces inviting the contemplation of growth, decay and renewal. Although all of her work is very personal she is inspired by the way each person has the ability to interpret things differently and therefore likes to leave her artwork minimally defined in order to open a dialogue between the viewers and the art.
