Artist Statement: I want people to enjoy looking at the piano as a piece of art and hear the sound while visually seeing the art. That experience can take them onto a soulful journey. I love to take people into new awarenesses through art and music and let them open up their sensual experiences. I think I can do that by painting a story on the piano.
Jane Elissa is a NYC based artist creating artwork on canvas combining paint in a collage with appliques, beads, jewels etc. Her whimsical pieces always tell a story. She started her art to wear business by painting over stains on an antique shawl. In 1991, she opened a retail boutique in the NYC Marriott Marriott Marquis Hotel. When her mother was diagnosed with Leukemia she put her art and theater background into organizing a benefit with celebrity and Broadway performers. She has devoted 30 years to raising money and sponsoring researchers to fight cancer. She has taken celebrities to visit patients in hospitals. She has been featured on GMA, WABC radio, and her artwork is collected by people all over the world. Her hatsforhealth sold thousands at the Grand Central Market. A percentage of sales from her hats goes to cancer research, as well as sales from licensed NYC luggage, and art to wear jackets. She continues to wholesale and is building an online presence.
