Artist Statement: This piano depicts local Nola Dancers and pinpoints their cultural backgrounds from around the world. It also features Cory Ledet, and Queen Ida; two famous zydeco musicians who are responsible for spreading Louisiana’s uniqueness with the world! On the back are kids curiously looking into a garden bed ready to become inspired by learning. Monarchs travel all over the world and so does the cultural sharing of art music and dance. My design has three functions: 1. To educate viewers on the richness in diversity Louisiana has in Dance as an art form, and to connect it to some musical legends who have both spread this richness with the world. 2. Raise up people in the community who keep both music and dance alive here- and inspire others to start learning. 3. Share the need we have to start teaching our children how to express creatively and intellectually - in order for them to become Louisiana’s next “Monarchs”
