Artist Statement: Our piano symbolizes the beauty and great communicative power of song. The bold colors of the silhouettes and music staffs represent diversity and music as a universal language. The arms shows the need to share one’s song, creating a chorus of love, strength, and beauty.
The Grammy award nominated Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) is a non-denominational choir made up of theater, television, and film artists who celebrate the music of gospel. Founded by the Tony-nominated performer Michael McElroy in 1994 as the Broadway Gospel Choir, it evolved into BIV in 1999. In 2010, BIV became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission consists of providing HOPE to INSPIRE and TRANSFORM youth through music and arts education. In addition to numerous concerts, the Grammy-nominated choir has performed with world class artists including Mariah Carey, Sting, Elton John, Vanessa Williams, The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, and Billy Porter and has been featured on Late Night with David Letterman, The Rosie O'Donnell Christmas Special, and America's Got Talent. In 2003, Broadway Inspirational Voices’ first album Great Joy: A Gospel Christmas was released and received a Grammy Award nomination.
