Artist Statement: NYC is a city of neighborhoods and diverse cultures. Travel from Washington Heights in Manhattan to the Flatlands of Brooklyn and every borough in between, and you can easily explore music, food, and culture from all around the globe. My piano celebrates this diversity in a design inspired by the energy and spontaneity of street art. The names of countries, boroughs, and neighborhoods are layered over each other in bright colors. I use the black lines of the bridges and silhouettes of buildings as connectors both literally and figuratively. A modern day version of Lady Liberty is decoupaged on the knee board. She wears headphones as her crown. A hidden surprise in my artwork is the use of glow in the dark paint and glitter varnish.
