Artist Statement: A celebration of the creature kingdom in all of its diversity is the theme for this year's piano. From ladybugs to elephants, the piano will be covered with creatures whose only requirement for inclusion is that they are indigenous to the planet Earth. I want to praise these animals that we share our environment with, who grace us with mystery and beauty, and whose presence is so vital to the ecosystem.
Born in Minnesota, I left my home state decades ago to head East, driven by a love of the arts and the desire to immerse myself in the cultural vibrancy of New York City. I currently pursue the practice of painting and drawing both in a private studio and through workshops, after studying at the Art Students League for many years. I am deeply motivated by a love of beauty in all forms and a longing to create it.
