Artist Statement: Art Heals Us! is a collaborative, mixed-media, creative commentary on art's therapeutic and healing nature. On behalf of The Foundation for Art and Healing, Edythe Hughes has curated a "gallery like" showing of art from approximately ten to fifteen artists. Bound by frames, each artist showcases a piece of work. The piano displays a wide variety of works including poems, paintings, mounted photos, and drawings all pointing towards the artists' individual experiences with art and healing.
"The mission of the Foundation is to use its position as a ""bridge"" to create and expand general awareness about art and healing, to bring forward through research and related explorations critical knowledge about art and healing and the relationship between them, and to help make this knowledge available at the individual and community level. Edythe Hughes is an artist, fashion model and member of the Foundation for Art & Healing community. Since 2012 she has been gathering artists in support of worthwhile causes around the New York City area via her previous Voices of Fashion (formerly known as Project Model Tee) organization. Alongside dozens of artists, Voices of Fashion raised tens of thousands for RAINN, NAMI NYC, Toys for Tots, and the Father's Heart Ministries."
