Artist Statement: Decoupaged with pages from Tolsoy's War and Peace, The Great Comet piano features quotes from the musical, annotations, stars, sketches and drawings from various love letters used in the show.
From the Broadway cast of the The Great Comet, Nicholas Belton (Bolkonsky), Paul Pinto (Balaga/Servant/Opera Singer) and Heath Saunders (Ensemble/u.s. Pierre and Balaga) designed and painted the piano. Nicholas has worked in NYC as an artist, chef, actor, singer, and mezcal drinker. Nick's current passion along with The Great Comet is his lifestyle blog SundayTheory.com - A platform combining his love of health, food, and a balanced lifestyle that he curates with his fiancée Alicia. Growing up in Queens, Paul is a composer and performer of experimental opera and makes art with his bands thingNY and Varispeed. Heath writes and performs musical theater, most recently presenting his show Newton’s Cradle at the New York Musical Festival in the summer of 2016. He also makes his computer sing with him when he’s bored.
