Artist Statement: This year, my piano is inspired by the Mexican tiles and climbing bougainvillea of my childhood in Southern California. Using a combination of paint and tissue paper collage, I have modeled the piano after a decorative wall or fountain, like you might find all over the American southwest and Mexico. The piano is covered in blue and white (paper) tiles, with a large pink and red cloud of bougainvillea climbing up the side and cascading over the top.
